General Care information for Cadix Wax Light Holders, Wax Candles and Candle Holders
• Always follow the specific burning instructions included with each type of our candle, as the information may or may not be as relevant to your product as the instructions provided with the product
• Never leave a burning flame unattended and keep away from children and pets!
• Remove all packaging before you light the candle. Trim the wick to 1/4" before lighting, and keep trimmed at all times while burning.
• Use an appropriate holder placed on a protected, heat-resistant surface.
• Keep wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches or any foreign matter - this is combustible material and may cause a fire hazard.
• Burn candles indoors, away from drafts, other heat sources, and any flammable objects or materials.
• If smoking occurs, blow out candle, trim wick, remove trimmings and relight.
• Take care when placing stoneware onto polished and sensitive surfaces, as it may cause staining or scratching
• Do not burn candles near any combustible materials. Always keep candles a safe distance from any flammable materials - especially overhead and beside the candle.
• Do not touch or attempt to move candles while burning. Container candles and liquid wax can get very HOT. Extinguish flame and wait until the wax has completely cooled and solidified before moving.
• Always burn candles on heat-resistant surfaces in the proper size holders or on non-flammable bases.
• Burn candles only in the body supplied with the candle
• Keep candles free of wick trimmings or other debris to prevent excess flaming and smoking.
• Always trim wicks to 1/4" (7mm) before lighting. If you notice a flame that is too high, or the wick is smoking, extinguish, trim wick to 1/4" (7mm) and relight.
• Container candles - keep the wicks centered and trimmed to 1/4" while burning to maximize the melt pool and for best scent throw. The flames should not touch the glass at any time. Do not use any container that is cracked or chipped.
• It is normal for some soot buildup to occur on the rim of container candles. If this occurs, before lighting, wipe soot off with a clean dry cloth. Do not add water to your candle. Never extinguish a candle with water as this could cause splattering of the wax.
• Do not place a hot, container candle on a cold surface as the container could crack or break.
• Candles should always be burned on a level burning surface to keep the flame from touching the sidewall and to prevent wax from spilling out of the container.
• We recommend the use of a candle snuffer to extinguish our candles to prevent excessive smoking and possible splattering of the the wax.
• Burning for no more than 4 hours at each lighting will provide for the most efficient and safe use of your candles.
• Burn candles away from drafts. Air vents, open windows, ceiling fans and doors may all create air movement that will cause the flame to smoke or uneven burning of the candle.
• Scented Candles: As with any product containing fragrance, an allergic reaction is always a possibility. If you experience any breathing or sneezing problems, discontinue use. Provide adequate ventilation if you are burning multiple candles.
• Avoid use of an excessive number of candles in a small area. Just like any other flame, candles consume the oxygen in a room and adequate ventilation must be provided.
Care And Handling Tips
• Keep your candles in a cool, dry environment. Direct sunlight may cause them to fade.
• Wax can be removed from linens, upholstery and carpeting by running a warm iron over a paper towel or brown paper bag. With washable fabrics, try rinsing with hot water.
• Always remember melted wax is hot and can cause burns if spilled on your skin. If you get wax on your skin, immediately cool with cold water or ice and carefully remove the hardened wax.
• Remember - burning candles safely is your responsibility. Cadix provide burning instructions with each candle purchased, and we are not responsible for any misuse of our products.
